『カウボーイビバップ』『アニマトリックス』の渡辺信一郎監督作品『サムライチャンプルー』。時代劇とHIP HOP、ウチナンチュとヤマトンチュ、サムライと現代人といった様々なファクターをサンプリングし、チャンプルー（混ぜ合わせた）した新感覚サムライ・アクション＆ロード・ムービー。
2004年発表のNujabesとFat Jon等のトラックを集めた伝説的CD『samurai champloo music record』の20周年を記念して、シリーズ全4タイトルがカセットソフトで発売！
サムライチャンプルーは、2004年～2005年にフジテレビ系列で放送されたテレビシリーズ・アニメーション。時代劇アクションながら現代ヒップホップカルチャーが随所に導入され、音楽はヒップホップのみという前代未聞の作風で世界中に話題を呼んだ。監督は『マクロスプラス』『カウボーイビバップ』以来ミュージック・センス抜群のアニメーションを送り続ける渡辺信一郎。
今作の音楽にはNujabes、fat jon、FORCE OF NATURE、Tsutchieという4組のトラックメーカーを迎え、それぞれの作風でオリジナルアルバムのように制作された。いずれのトラックもいまだ輝き続け、特にヒップホップ系のアーティストたちにとっては、現代でも常に無条件で語り継がれている名作である。
2022年に発売された同シリーズ初のアナログ4タイトルは合計3万枚を超える異例のヒットとなった。
